On a bright, but cool and breezy day, the Society of the Descendants of Peter Francisco met at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park to honor their ancestor. A number of Society officers were on hand to conduct a memorial wreath-laying ceremony, to recount the story of the "Hercules of the Revolution", and to dedicate themselves to continue the stewardship of freedom. But perhaps the crowning achievement of the day was a dramatic interpretation of the life of Peter Francisco by his 6th Great Grandson, Travis Bowman of North Caroliina. This was the debut performance of a role that seemed it was just "meant" to be performed by Mr. Bowman; a result of the juxtaposition of place, time, discovery, and a newfound but profound interest in his personal genealogical history. Here, then, is the day as it unfolded.
