It was the kind of day that will linger long in memory. The Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution (SCAR) Corps of Discovery Tours joined forces with the American Revolution Round Table of Richmond (ARRT-R) to sponsor a tour envisioned by John Maass and inspired by his presentation to the ARRT-R earlier this year. In short order the tour was organized, participants signed up, travel arrangements made, and permissions were granted to visit Revolutionary War historical sites that are not generally open to the public. On the day of the tour, participants braved record-setting heat (107 degrees Farenheit) to put "boots on the ground" and follow in the footsteps of Banastre Tarleton and his cavalry as they advanced on Charlottesville, VA, to "disturb the assembly". This photo gallery records the people, the places, and the gathering of Patriotic Americans in search of their nation's history on the road to Charlottesville, Va.
